Laura Bechard is a lifelong mentor. Every day, she uses her background in business and communication to help fellow consultants, practice or business owners face make-or-break issues head on – so they can focus on their expertise.
Starting by instructing wanna-be entrepreneurs as a business educator, then supporting professionals during career transitions and now advising independent consultants and firm owners in the gig economy, Laura has always understood that communication is the key to building trust and understanding, especially with your family members who support you in this pursuit. Her 25-year tenure in Alberta’s post secondary sector coupled with an M. Ed provided her with extensive experience in organizational development, instruction, leadership and performance management.
Laura has seen it all, heard it all, and survived it all – from buying the in-laws’ farm, the isolation of being an entrepreneur widow, a serious accident in the family and every crisis you can imagine. She has persevered through more than one economic downturn and has given consultants, business owners and their families the practical tools they need to save their marriages, hold onto their businesses and gain some much needed peace of mind. The succession of their family farm is well underway to the 5th generation.
An award winning MBA, success strategist Laura Bechard advises experts in professional, technical, health and business firms on key strategies and fundamentals to build their business, consultancy or practice. By doing so, they generate cash flows to achieve their life’s goals and develop a sound plan to exit the business as they retire. As a Chartered Professional Accountant and active volunteer with the Institute for Performance and Learning and the Alberta Government’s Board Development Program, Laura’s reach extends into the Not-for-Profit sector where she supports the development of sound strategic plans, stronger boards and sustainable business practices.
