Professional Development Units (PDUs)

PMI NAC supports the on-going professional development of certified Project Management Professionals (PMPs) and the maintenance of the PMP certification. PMI NAC does this through its Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. To read more about the CCR program, visit the PMI website.

If you hold a PMI designation (CAPM/PMP/PgMP/PMI-SP/PMI-RMP) and you attend the PMI Northern Alberta Chapter Conference, you have the opportunity to earn up to 15 Category 3 Professional Development Units (PDUs).

What is a Professional Development Unit or PDU?

  • The PDU is the measuring unit used to qualify approved learning and professional services activities.
  • These activities must be related to project management topics that are substantially consistent with the knowledge areas and processes as outlined by A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOKĀ® Guide) and involve appropriate expert resources.
  • Typically, one PDU is earned for every one hour spent in a planned, structured learning experience or activity. Fractions of PDUs may be reported in 0.25 increments following one full hour.
