2018 Conference Planning Committee

Dhinesh Ramasamy, Project Sponsor

Professional Role: Senior Project Manager
What can attendees expect that is different compared to previous years? Heraclitus once said “The only thing that is constant is change.” The concept of “Change” is at the heart of our conference theme. This year, delegates can expect a renewed conference format, local speakers, and an emphasis on what is changing in our industry. Our team has refreshed the format of sessions, inviting new speakers with new ideas, incorporating interactive workshops, welcoming an approach to newer technologies and trends, inviting young and energetic keynote speakers, and harnessing ideas from new committee members. Yes, the conference committee has changed and we are excited to bring our fresh ideas to life. Delegates can also expect a lot of knowledge sharing sessions with hands-on workshops conducted on-site so that they can practice what they’ve learned. I guarantee it will be a lot of fun! So come change your life forever by attending the PMINAC Conference 2018. “Sometimes it’s the smallest decisions that can change your life forever.” – Keri Russell

Ian Burns, Director, Conference

Professional Role:  Program Manager
Why did you join the conference committee?  I returned to Edmonton in 2010 after working on consulting engagements across the U.S. and Canada. Having had board experience with other chapters, (PMI-CIC & PMI-NS), as well as with Habitat for Humanity Metro West / Greater Worcester, I’m a firm believer in contributing to the local chapter’s efforts wherever I’m most needed.  I’m excited to be the Director of this year’s event and look forward to supporting the team that is working to develop this conference as a high value learning experience for all.

Bailey Sousa, Program Coordinator

Professional Role: Director, International Institute for Qualitative Methodology, University of Alberta
Why did you join the conference committee? I chose to join the conference committee this year because I am passionate about the PMINAC Conference. After experiencing the conference as a delegate, I am excited to bring my experience and ideas to the team and contribute to this important event for my colleagues more directly. With extensive experience in conference and event planning, most recently through my professional role in developing and overseeing 4-6 international events annually, I seek to harness my skills in a meaningful way for PMI. This year’s conference theme “Be Bold. Be Moved. Be the Change.” encourages me to think carefully about all of the choices we are making around the conference program – is the content bold enough? Are we truly expressing ambition? How can we inspire the changes today needed for a better tomorrow? I am proud to be striving to meet this challenge together with our great conference team!

Salena Wong, Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Professional Role: eLearning Specialist, Alberta Health, Government of Alberta
Why did you join the conference committee? I’ve volunteered for various positions with the PMI Northern Alberta Chapter over the past few years; but 2018 is the year, where change needs to happen! I’m thrilled to be part of Conference team as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. I’ll keep all delegates in the loop and plan to make stories to remember at the @PMI_NAlberta #PMINAC2018!
